Bangladesh’s economy may grow at a slower pace of 4.0 per cent in the current fiscal year, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) says by downgrading its earlier GDP-growth forecast at 4.5 per cent.
The Manila-based lender warns that severe structural energy deficits, banking-sector stress and entrenched inflationary pressures will continue to constrain the country’s economic expansion through FY2026-27.
In its Asian Development Outlook (ADO) July 2026, the ADB had forecast that Bangladesh’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) would grow at a 4.5-percent rate.
