The issue of Floor Area Ratio (FAR) and building- construction rules in the new Detailed Area Plan (DAP) are likely to be settled within two weeks, RAJUK chairman Major-General Siddiqur Rahman Sarker (Retd) said on Monday.
“We expect that we shall conclude the FAR and building rules issue within the next two weeks,” he said.
Various proposals of the DAP review meeting are now available online for stakeholders to have a look into this, he added.
“We are taking all stakeholders’ opinions into consideration in this regard,” he said.
The chief of Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK) came up with the announcement while addressing as the chief guest the inaugural ceremony of the five-day-long REHAB Fair 2024, organised by the Real Estate and Housing Association of Bangladesh (REHAB), on the BICC premises in the capital’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar area.
Chairman of Sena Kalyan Sangstha Major General Md Habib Ullah was the guest of honour while REHAB President Md Wahiduzzaman, Senior Vice-President Liakat Ali Bhuiyan and Director Labib Billah were present at the opening ceremony, among others.
The RAJUK chairman also said as per the new rules, occupancy certificates will be issued much ahead of construction of a building to address a number of issues.
“For many days, occupancy certificates were issued after the construction of a building was completed leading to various problems,” the RAJUK chairman said, adding that RAJUK officials will keep close monitoring.
Occupancy certificates are issued to ensure that a building has been properly constructed or is safe for use.
Mr Sarker also said the process is being more simplified than before.
REHAB President Md Wahiduzzaman said the issue of DAP 2022-35 along with other issues has been taking a serious toll on the country’s real estate sector.
“Housing development in the capital city has been in a stalemate,” he said.
He expected that the fair will help buyers to gather information from a large number of companies at one place.
Some 220 stalls of real estate companies, home loan providers, building material manufacturers and other allied stakeholders will showcase their products and services.
The fair will continue until December 27 allowing visitors to enter between 10.00am to 9.00pm. Ticket price of the fair has been fixed at Tk 50 for one-time and Tk 100 for multiple entry per person. thefinancialexpress.com.bd
